We spent a day wandering through a strange alien landscape – millions of naked trees, ghosts, creaking together in the wind stripped of bark and branches. Bleached white and oily charcoal black outlined against a cloudless sky. A rustling, fertile bed of lush green ferns and huckleberry bushes heavy with ripe fruit. A 10,000 acre burn north or Sisters in 2011 – the earth scarred to prove it.
Note the little plume of smoke in the first photo. We later learned was a little wildfire burning by Marion Lake. Thankfully not ON the PCT but pretty close by.
